A receipt starts your watch list. When a possible match appears, compare the product, lot and dates with the official recall notice before deciding what to do.

No match is not a guarantee of safety. Coverage depends on the available recall records and what your receipt contains.

    Questions, answered.

EatSure is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that helps you understand food labels and watch grocery purchases for recalls. Scan a nutrition label and get one of four honest fit levels — "Great for you", "All clear", "Go easy", "Not for you" — matched to your allergies, goals, and hard lines. Scan a grocery receipt to watch identified items for possible matches in FDA and USDA recall records.

Point your camera at a nutrition label. EatSure reads the ingredients and the nutrition panel and answers with one of four levels, matched to the profile you set: allergies (including ones you type yourself), diet rules, goals, and values. It rates how the product fits you, not the food — there is no 0–100 score. Every ingredient rating traces to a human-reviewed card with sources you can open.

Snap a photo of your grocery receipt after shopping. EatSure identifies readable items and watches them for possible recall matches during your plan’s tracking window. Review each match against your package and the official notice. Pro includes push alerts and longer tracking. Shopped online? Take a screenshot of the e-receipt or order confirmation and upload it from your photo library; EatSure reads it like a paper receipt.

EatSure checks available FDA and USDA recall records for potential matches with tracked purchases. Match details and official notices help you review whether your package is affected. You can also browse recall records directly.

EatSure is free to start: browsing the recall database needs no account, and you get free scans — free scans are ad-supported, and you can watch a short ad for another. An optional Pro subscription unlocks unlimited scans, AI summaries with follow-up chat, and a longer recall watch on identified purchases.

Yes. EatSure’s recall browsing is free and does not require a receipt or an account. Search the available FDA and USDA recall records by product or brand.

An estimated 613 food recalls were issued across the FDA and USDA in 2025, about 20% more than the 505 recorded in 2021. Class I recalls — the most serious, where eating the product could cause serious illness or death — grew about 36% over the same period, according to a Trace One analysis. Our 2025 food recall statistics article breaks the numbers down by cause and category.

No. A match depends on available recall records and the information EatSure could identify. A receipt may omit details such as lot numbers. Review the original recall notice and your package; the absence of a match is not a safety guarantee.
